ethProxy DDoS Mitigation Service Update Provides Self-learning DDoS Protection
0ServerOrigin Communications released an update for ethProxy DDoS mitigation. More than 3 months of comparison testing shows that ethProxy provides the most accurate DDoS protection in the history of the market.
NEW YORK, Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ — ServerOrigin Communications (http://www.serverorigin.com) is releasing the newest update for its ethProxy DDoS mitigation service. This update will enable ethProxy to be the first self-learning denial-of-service system on the market, making this the most advanced DDoS protection service available anywhere.
“This is the first time in the mitigation world where a product can be enabled on a site and learn the difference between good and bad traffic coming into a website,” ServerOrigin CEO Kevin Hatfield said. “Until now, providers rely on appliances or custom software which is based on hard limits and thresholds. This update changes the way the consumer should look at protection. We have successfully built a product which will determine anomalies based on normal traffic flow with strictly dynamic rulesets.”
Set up to use ethProxy is easy. Users simply point their domain at the IP Address provided by ServerOrigin Communications. Traffic is then filtered and routed back to the user. The user’s IP will be hidden and guarded behind the proxy solution to filter any malicious traffic before it reaches their server. Only clean, legitimate traffic will be allowed to reach the user’s web site.
“We have a multi-million dollar investment and hundreds of thousands of man-hours building out this solution. We are hands-down, the best,” Hatfield said. “If I didn’t believe it, we would likely be reselling a competitors product or not be in business at all. Instead, we are continually seeing growth of more than 200% each fiscal year in a time where the economy is unstable and many online providers are closing up shop. I believe it speaks directly to our dedication and quality that we bring to the table.”
Along with AnyCast DNS services through a partnership with DNSMadeEasy earlier in the year, the ethProxy service already stands as the giant in the business with fully automated datacenter failover and redundancy across multiple points across the United States, including Seattle, Dallas and Washington, DC. It also has the largest service level agreement from any DDoS mitigation provider, now at a 99.998% guarantee.
About ServerOrigin Communications:
ServerOrigin Communications specializes in enterprise DDoS protection and hosting, while ranking among the top DDoS protection providers worldwide. Services include CDN-based DDoS mitigation, AnyCast DNS, and intrusion detection. ServerOrigin utilizes more than 30 POP locations in the United States and is the premium solution for companies seeking 99.998% service levels with protection against online attacks as large as 30Gbps. Since its founding in 2006, DDoS mitigation provider ServerOrigin Communications has protected more than 1,000,000 domains worldwide.

DualRack Launches Enkompass Windows Hosting
0San Antonio TX – DualRack announced today its new Enkompass web hosting packages which run on multiple Windows Server 2008 machines. The Enkompass control panel, also known as the Web Site Owner (WSO) panel, is very similar in its look and feel as compared to the existing cPanel Linux control panel. This will make it extremely easy for current cPanel users to make the switch over to a Windows hosting account. cPanel has been hard at work over the last couple of years trying to get a stable release of Enkompass out there. The first stable version has now been released and DualRack is one of only a small number of web hosting providers that offers it. Two DualRack CEO’s, Andrew Wietlispach & Neilson Robin stated that they:
“Wanted to make their companies windows web hosting as user friendly as possible.”
Andrew also quoted
“We have always had outstanding feedback on the cPanel control panel from our Linux customers and we knew this was going to be our choice when it came to offering Windows web hosting.”
Numerous online polls have shown that many existing Linux web hosting clients have expressed interest in trying out Windows web hosting if they only had a control panel that they were truly comfortable with. With Enkompass now on the market the cPanel company is confident some of these users may give Windows a try. The Enkompass system utilizes IIS7 and offers both MySQL and MSSQL. Limestone Networks, GoDaddy, HostGator — Creative Marketing Tactics
8While making my daily rounds on WebHostingTalk, I noticed the side advertisement with a good looking female in it. Now, as any male knows, when we see an attractive female, our first instinct is to take a look at it. The one company that is best at eye catching images, is none other than GoDaddy. Their marketing strategy is amazing, to say the least and I could only imagine the amount of money they spend annually on advertising. Take a beautiful, known race car driver, and make her your spokesperson, sit back and profit.

The ad that caught my eye on WHT was from Limestone Networks, a dedicated server company based out of Dallas, Texas. You can see a copy of the advertisement above. The original image isn’t static like this one, but I was unable to find a copy of the original. Needless to say, Limestone did an excellent job catching my eye. If you’re familiar with the industry and some of the top dedicated server providers, then I’m sure you know who Limestone is targeting with their “No nerdy green frogs here” ad, none other than SingleHop. While some may look at this advertisement as a stab at SingleHop, I think it’s a strategic marketing move on Limestones part. I can only hope to see a future ad from Singlehop to poke back at Limestone.
Another company I would like to give props to is HostGator, who recently acquired a NASCAR sponsorship with driver Joe Nemechek. You can find more information on the sponsorship in their June newsletter and view pictures of the car on their facebook page.
Host Color Deploys Fuscan Linux Cloud To Offer High Availability cPanel Hosting
16
The web hoster announced it begun working on building a Cloud hosting infrastructure in February, 2010. It uses Kernel-based virtual machines, which serve as processing nodes in a Cloud hosting infrastructure powered by Fuscan hosting automation solutions. Host Color runs an EHA, a software automation layer of Fuscan, which enables the company to provide High Availability cPanel/WHM based Shared Cloud accounts.
The web host said in its official news release that its new Cloud infrastructure model creates competitive advantages for small-business owners and enables them to:
- Manage Cloud accounts with cPanel’s familiar interface “Domain Owner Panel”
- Use cPanel “Root and Reseller Admin Panel” to create and manage Reseller Cloud Hosting accounts
- Use load-balanced IP based virtual hosting as a service part of cPanel Cloud accounts
- Share the resources of a large cluster of virtual machines
- Host websites on a Fault-Tolerant Cloud storage area network (SAN) replicated for redundancy
- Have an “Archive copy” of their Cloud hosting account
- Save financial resources on software licenses and system administration
- Host a large number of websites and dot-com projects on a load-balanced cluster
- Use redundant network and premium bandwidth
- Get their websites hosted in a secure virtual hosting environment protected by dedicated SSL certificate
“We are glad to announce the Host Color Cloud, a highly available, load-balanced IT Hosting service delivered from a fully redundant cloud infrastructure, automated for cPanel/WHM”, said Martin Andreev, a VP of Operations of Host Color LLC. “We are proud that we made moving to the clouds simple and risk-free for everyone. Site owners who used to use cPanel/WHM can now take advantage from Cloud computing, without a need to change the way they manage websites and online applications”, added Mr. Andreev.
The Cloud Infrastructure of Host Color?
Host Color’s new Cloud infrastructure consists of thousands of virtual processing nodes connected to a shared storage area network (SAN). The web hoster uses InfiniBand as communication link between all components of the system for high performance. All cloud accounts are hosted on a Storage Area Network replicated for redundancy and share resources of the whole system.
The implemented Cloud infrastructure model guarantees an operational continuity of all services – HTTP, FTP, E-mail, DNS, Database, etc. When a server part of Host Color Cloud has to be added, removed, configured or reconfigured, the system’s load-balancer automatically reconfigures the system. If there are failed nodes the load-balancer excludes them from the system.
Fuscan Linux Cloud, the enterprise automation platform used by the company, ensures redundancy on a software level (transparent service failover) for Host Color Cloud, while the Supermicro Datacenter Blade hardware technology and InfiniBand provide a hardware level (power, cluster interconnect) redundancy for the company’s infrastructure.
The web Host Color opened its Europe based Cloud in the beginning of July. The new U.S. virtual data center of the company is scheduled for opening in October.
